The cycling team is a club sport at Whitman College: a self-run group of students who love riding bikes and spending time together. The, importance of this distinction, as Opposed to a varsity sport, is did we have no coach or other adult involvement in the running of the team. We Provide the leadership. We ride or race on any given day: because we love to, not: because we have to. We share our knowledge with each other. Each person HAS to integral part in keeping the team running and directing where it goes in the future. So We take pride in our Approximately 50/50 male to female ratio, our emphasis on fun first and the camaraderie in between all members no matter ability level, age, major study or other investigation Predetermined groupings. The team which founded in 2002 by a group of enthusiastic cyclists and since then Has Formed a wide-branching, but close-knit community where teammates become lifelong friends and extended family members.
